This project was about redesigning a small household product, for instance, something that we use every day and think needs to be improved. The product that I chose to redesign was a coffee frother. By using it every day I have noticed things in design and functionality that were pain points. Although it was a small object, it was very challenging to find the right way to redesign it correctly to fit everybody’s needs.
The model of a coffee frother that I decided to redesign. It was a Fackelmann’s coffee/milk frother that is battery operated.
As a result of the research, a product concept was created according to the requirements and findings.
Its geometric shape enables the possibility of storage on the kitchen counter after using it. The product is aesthetically pleasing so it can be a statement detail on the kitchen counter.
The solid housing protects the thin metal part. This was achieved by adding a bending mechanism that allows the thin part to be stored inside a solid housing when not in use.
